Warden Hill Junior School

House Captains

At Warden Hill Juniors we have the four houses: Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune and Saturn.

One of the most sought after positions amongst the children in Year 6 is the prestigious role of House Captain. There are usually two captains per house, one boy and one girl.  However this year we have four per house.  Two House Captains and two deputies.

At the start of the year the whole school gathers together in house groups in order to vote in their captains. Every Year 6 child has the opportunity to seek election. They work hard on their manifesto, which is presented in front of their house, and then a secret ballot is taken to find out who has been elected.  This process links to the schools delivery of British Values in promoting the importance of a democracy as a fundamental British Value.

The House Captains are in charge of collecting the merits from the classes and presenting certificates to children at a special Merit Assembly which is held each half term.

They hold regular half termly meetings to plan future house activities and when the activities take place they are often expected to help manage and deliver them. These include: International Orienteering, Charades; Maths Master classes, Art Workshops and of course the annual two day Sports Day.
